Foundation Application Tips
Up until now, most of my business has been direct sales through salons and health food stores where they have testers and can demonstrate my minerals. Now that I am selling online, I have realized that I need to explain now my foundation is applied and how it is different than some traditional mineral foundations.
Lucy Minerals Foundation has a different consistency than other mineral makeups. This is due to a higher percentage of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, and a lower percentage of fillers.
It is concentrated and you don't need to use as much. Which also means that you don't have to buy it as often!
When it is first applied, it may feel a little different due to the zinc oxide, but just give it a few minutes to warm to your skin and you will see how it transforms to a smooth finish. It will cover your flaws and protect your skin from the elements. It also contains allantoin, which is an anti-irritant and heals the skin. The coffeeberry extract and Vitamin C give the foundation a good dose of antioxidants.
Zinc oxide is a wonderful ingredient that is anti-microbial and also protects your skin from the sun. Zinc Oxide is so soothing that it is used in Diaper Rash Cream for babies.
You need to start with a small amount of minerals and then add a little bit more if you need it. If you use too much it will look like a mask. But once you learn to use the proper amount, it looks and feels very soft and natural while giving wonderful coverage. The shades look darker in the container than they look on the skin. This is also due to the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
If your skin is dry, it is good to use a few drops of Emu Oil, Squalane or a moisturizer to prep your skin. Just mix with a little water in the palm of your hand and then pat it onto a damp face. Allow the oil or moisturizer to soak into the skin for a short time. Then dip your brush into a small amount of minerals, tap off the excess really well, and then buff all over the face. Then use your camoflauge (concealer) brush and dab a few more minerals on anything that you need to cover. If you are dry around the eye and nose area, dip your camoflauge brush in a tiny drop of Emu Oil, then dip into your minerals, and then smooth this around your eyes or whatever needs covered. Then quickly buff again. I do my blush next (which is also highly pigmented and concentrated), and then finish with some Finishing powder. If you have larger pores, allow the minerals to warm up for about 15-20 minutes and then blend again using a sponge or clean fingertips. Your pores will appear much smaller after this second blending.
Once you practice this a few times, it is very fast and easy.
My Dermatologist in Ohio was amazed at how my mineral makeup was able to cover my rosacea. He said that he liked all of the ingredients and asked for cards and samples to give to his patients. He sent quite a few people to my shop. So I can honestly say that it is Dermatologist Approved and Recommended.
